Our ancients taught us the most difficult concepts through stories and here is a simple but intriguing one .
Once sage Narad came down to visit Krishna and while they were walking , asked him about maya( the sage prided himself on being untouched by Maya )
Krishna smiled , sat down under a tree and asked the sage to fetch water from a village nearby as the discourse would take time.
Narad went to a well , in a village nearby where a beautiful damsel was drawing water.
The sage asked her to give some to him , but the moment she lifted her eyes he fell in love and forgot everything else. The girl reciprocated the feeling and both of them got married with the consent and blessings of the girl’s father Time passed and the sage had a lovely family .He inherited his father-in-law’s property as his wife was the only child. It was thus a joyous and prosperous life.
But one day it just started raining and would not stop .As the water level rose the sage and his family climbed up to the highest point of the village, but alas despite his best efforts, Narad could not save his family. As he watched his beloved wife being swept away ,a cry of pure agony escaped from his lips .”Krishna” ,he called. Krishn Kanhaiya was there smiling ” where have you been ? “, he asked ” I have been waiting for 30 minutes ”
That was Maya .The 12 years of blissful married life had been just half an hour for Krishna
As I try to find similarities in science, I am reminded of a physicist friend of mine who said that everything is an illusion and I was like wow ! and surfed the net .So quantum physics , concept of time dilation etc meet the Ved finally.
